  3.     CONVICTION OVERTURNED. Randall Adams, 40, accused cop killer,
  4. by a Texas appeals court, which set aside a 1977 guilty verdict on
  5. grounds of suppressed evidence and perjured testimony; in Austin.
  6. A documentary, The Thin Blue Line, publicized the plight of Adams,
  7. who maintained his innocence in the 1976 slaying of a Dallas police
  8. officer. The public recanting by the prosecution's chief witness
  9. could result in a new trial or, if Adams' defense lawyers have
  10. their way, his release.
